Need Help with DZ Editor Repacking for HH 2004

It unpacks just fine, but won't repack.
I have all the updated player portrait files ready to go, but when trying to repack I get error messages either "cannot open PORTAITS file or "cannot create Portraits" file.
I made sure the "read only" box is unchecked, have started from scratch and uninstalled/ reinstalled High Heat 2004, made no changes to the original files and get the same error message. Tom sent me another DZ 2k4 Editor and still the same thing happens.
At this point, if someone who has had success doing this can walk me through the process, that'd be great. It should be all straight forward, but maybe I've got a wrong folder somewhere....
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
JD

Jim, can you tell me the size of your portraits.mf file? What are the sizes of your photos?
Let's start from scratch, your portraits should be in a folder named portraits, if you don't have a portraits folder, then create one to unpack your portraits in. the portraits folder should be located in the Art folder of HH2004.
Make sure there are no other files in that folder, tgas only. When I update a portait/photo I just have it overwrite it in that folder and I don't need to unpack it every time I do an update. I just repack it. I know you probably have done all this in the past, but lets go step by step. Make sure all folders are in their proper places.
Open up the HHeditor, click on the file option at the top, then click on the MF packer/unpacker option. Then click on the repack faces and photos option. On the left side go into programs/hh2004/arts/portraits. Click ok on
portraits. It should show your tga files on the right side before you click ok. Then a box should pop up with your saves folder at the top. Reverse or backup till your art folder appears and click on it. Then find your player folder and click on it. You will see your portrait.mf file, click on it and the file should repack.
If all folders and files are where they are suppose to be and you repacked as stated above, then we need to look elsewhere. Hope this helps.

Thanks again for all your time and consideration!
Still a no go. I tried changing the created folder name ( as you suggested) from portraits to portrait, thinking that it had to be exactly the same lettering as "portrait" to match the portait.mf, but I still get the same error message " cannot create file in C:\program files\HH2004\art\player\portrait.mf "
The tga files are the originals, since I just reinstalled it from the disk with no modifications. I backed up all the custom 3rd party files in another folder for now until the problem gets resolved.
The original portraits are 64x64. The updated files, kept in a separate folder for now are 128x128, but I'm going to stick with the originals just to keep it simple for now.
Thanks again!!

Have you tried repacking the file using the "run as administrator" option? Right click on the HHeditor and click on that option near the top, then try repacking the file. You may get a white screen of the photo when you do this, just close hheditor and then reopen. Also check to see that there is not a picture of a lock on any of the folders, files, programs.

When I click right click on the HH editor, I don't get "run as administrator" as an option.
I get "Open, run as, scan for virus, scan for virus, add to archive, compress to email, send to, copy, rename, remove from list, Properties.
thanks!

What version of windows are you running? XP, windows 7. I'm using windows 7, but had XP prior.
Try right click on hheditor and click on compatibility, near the bottom is a box to check as "run as administrator

there is no run as administrator box to check. Nothing that mentions administrator.
I get a gut feeling we're getting close! Thanks for the perseverance.
Try this:
Running a program as administrator
•In Windows 7 or Vista, if a particular software program on your computer requires you to be logged in as an administrator, right-click it from the Start menu, and select Run as administrator.
•Windows XP provides a Secondary Logon service (also known as "run as") that lets you run programs as different users. To use it, do one of the following:
◦Navigate to the program you wish to launch with different privileges. Click it once to select it, and then hold down the Shift key and right-click the program. You'll see a contextual menu from which you can select Run as... and then choose a different account.
◦From the Start menu, select Run... , and enter the following command:
runas /user:username cmd
Replace username with the name of the account you want to use. You can replace cmd with any command you'd like to run (if it contains spaces between characters, enclose it in double quotes). Click OK. When prompted, enter the password for the account you've chosen. This method will start a new command shell in a new session, from which you can launch programs.

and entered a password when prompted. I hit enter and it returns to the Desktop.
When I right clicked the HH2K4Edit icon, I clicked "Run as" and the Run as screen comes up asking
for username and password. I typed in the new user name and password and then get the "Log in failure bad
user name or password" message.
I tried this several times carefully with the same result. Maybe I'm missing something with the quotes you mentioned?
That's only if there is a character space in the username?

Got these from goggle search:
press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice while at the logon screen. Then type Administrator for the account name and type any password you have assigned. If no password is assigned, just leave that blank and press enter.
or
in Control Panel > User Accounts > change the way users log on or off > uncheck Use the Welcome screen
Start > Logoff John Doe > type Administrator as username, enter admin password if exists. Can also logon via Safe Mode.
